Wee Blue Book arrives in Borders

Wee Blue Book

Copies of the booklet that is taking the Scottish electorate by storm arrived in the Borders tonight.

The Week Blue Book has been produced by Wings over Scotland, a pro-independence website, and was initially funded by a crowdfunding appeal last March which raised over £110,000.

The Rev. Stuart Campbell who runs the Wings website believes “an independent Scotland would, simply, be a better place”. In his introduction he states, “A very great deal of what you’ve been told about independence in the last few years is, not to put too fine a point on it, a flat-out lie. Over the coming pages, using fully-referenced, impartial sources that you can go and check for yourself, I want to show you the truth hidden behind those lies.”

A first batch of Wee Blue Books from the initial print run were rushed from the printers in Glasgow.

The Wee Blue Book is as concise as is possible, using “the UK government’s own figures, the views of independent experts and quotations from Unionist politicians and officials, NOT those who support independence.”

On 11th August the Wee Blue Book was launched online. In the first day digital downloads exceeded 100,000. Additional digital formats, including for phones, tablets and ebook readers, have become available and the demand has continued to shoot upwards with over 320,000 downloads to date.

Within hours of the launch it became apparent that the print-run of 20,000 copies fell far short of demand. Stuart Campbell was inundated with requests from all over Scotland. And Wings readers who were printing off copies to hand out reported voters eager for information and reacting very positively to it.

Offers of money to fund further printed copies flooded into Wings, with the new crowdfunder reaching its target in less than three hours. To date well over twice the target has been reached

The second batch of Wee Blue Books, all 250,000 of them, will shortly be available, though not sufficient to supply all those voters who are clamouring for copies. The Borders has been immensely fortunate in receiving copies tonight, and people around the area will be busy distributing them from tomorrow onwards.

As Stu Campbell says, “On September the 18th you’re going to have to make the most important decision any Scot in history has ever made, and it seems only fair that you should be able to do it based on the true facts.”

One Response to Wee Blue Book arrives in Borders

  1. Bill Simpson says:

Have absolute faith in Scots and Scotland’s ability to see through the smoke and mirrors of Westminster politics of greed is good.
We are, however, a bit too trusting of people in suits who tell us it is for our own good or its in our best interests when it is only for their own.
It takes us longer to learn the lesson but once learnt…. We have to seize this opportunity, as we can rest assured that if we don’t ,more barriers will be put in place to prevent us ever having the chance again
